| The Ancient Ram Inn investigated on 28th October 2006 Weather …………. 14c, fine drizzle. And Cloudy. This wonderful old building is home to John Humphrie's, who has built the reputation up of this building to having extreme paranormal occurrences. We had come along to find out what if anything was here. The house is full of newspaper cuttings and magazine clippings explaining what has gone on in this place and therefore our mediums for the night had to keep averting their gaze. With the house in some what a state of disrepair and lots of furniture and knick knacks around we had to be extremely careful how we went about the place in the dark. We were to split into groups but one of our new mediums was being psychically attacked as soon as she had walked into the building, it transpired later that she is a white witch and the energy giving her some trouble was indeed a witch hunter …makes sense to me! So as the main members went off with the owner for him to give his talk on the house the mediums and two senior investigators went on a wander…. Their findings are as follows; Helen picks up on energy of a man, very powerful and enjoys intimidating women. Helen is psychically shown how the man picking a lady up by the throat and holding her to the wall. He is the witch hunter. He is described as being 6’ 4” very tall, dark hair he seems scruffy and hair is greasy. He is wearing a hat, white frilly shirt, black ¾ length trousers and black full length boots, with a long cloak or full length heavy coat over the top. The name of William is given and Jeannette draws him, the other Helen asks William to show himself and her cam corder is turned off. Jeannette feels that she should be quoting the bible! Helen feels that someone was attacked in this room and their hand was burnt in the fireplace for stealing a sword. The name of Edward Mortimer in 18oo’s. This man’s finger tips were burnt so badly he could no longer use his hand after. Also another man in 1545 had been attacked because he had been caught with another’s wife. A yellow feather is given and this represents cowardice, also we are told of a group who had been at the house recently had been devil worshipers and had conjured up a negative energy …. This has been confirmed by the owner. Jeannette had drawn a woman and says she belongs to someone in the house, later John the owner confirms she looks like a relative of his and shows us a photo to compare. The rest of the group have finished having their talk with John and at 10.55pm we start investigating the house. Bar Room. Temperature /emf same as original. Gemma immediately feels sick. A tunnel is picked up on that may run under the building although in our opinion seems unlikely, but more than 1 person gets this. The sensation of being buried alive, a choking feeling felt by Gemma and Jeannette. It is felt that partly under the existing building and in the grounds is a burial site. A child of about 4’8” comes over to Jeannette; he has dark hair and in a style of a monk’s hair cut! He is wearing rough almost sack cloth clothing. He comes in visitation and brings in 3 smaller children. Possibility he could be a stable boy. We call out to spirit and a few ‘ting’s’ are heard The children are aged 12, 7 and 4 all boys the little girl Emily is hiding behind Peter and peeping out at us. Marie feels a cold hand on her face. Children’s names are Emily, John, John, Mattie. They are not related but would have worked here the year 1242 is given. They tell us there has been a large fire in the village but this house was ok, verified later. They tell us that a large pond was nearby but is no longer there and that the road has been changed …confirmed. A large woman is heard telling someone to “eat your bleeding sausages now” she was here in the 1950’s Theresa, and would have worked in the Inn, she is an ample woman, 5’5” auburn frizzy hair, delicate features, and everyone’s friend just don’t ever cross her! She says Tony ran the pub until it closed. The name of Jim and either Edwards as a surname or Edward are given. The name Sammy as well the year 1961/62, she tells us the bar would have been out by what is now a kitchen… confirmed She also tells us that there was no documentation before the current owner of the place being haunted by evil entities. The majority of people that come here are ok but lately there has been a number who have come with into the house with ill intent. Confirmed Theresa says John is a lovely man maybe some would say eccentric but she comes here to look after him. There are 8 ley lines running through the house. Helen's radio goes off, Pete has the other radio and it is switched off…..so not sure what happened there. 11.50pm Tea break. 12.10am the Barn A nasty energy is felt in here by most of the group, Two of the mediums stand close together for protection as one is a witch, this man is putting his finger right in Helen's face he makes her feel like a naughty child. He is telling us to get out, and who do we think we are, he is very reluctant to talk just wants us out. The name of William is given again. We ask why he wants us out and he tells us to “keep our noses out and to get out” As Jeannette looks down she is startled to see a pair of mans hands placed over her own, and although a only a brief glimpse it was a weird experience. This energy wants to talk through Helen but in no way is he being allowed to and it takes the three mediums to keep him at bay from her. There is a startled scream behind us as something pushes past Gemma and pulls Marie’s hair. It is decide best to leave the barn, for the safety of our guests. We decide it is ok to split into two groups as we will be going upstairs and not far from each other. Helens team go to the witches or newly named Beau font room and the others go to the Bishops room. Bishops Room 12.30am – Peter’s team Absolutely no paranormal events happen at all, we have kids outside attempting to take the slates off the roof (roof is street height). And a click in the fireplace is heard by everyone. Jan’s camera batteries completely drain (new ones just put in). Light anomalies are showing up on digital camera. We swap rooms. 1am - witches room Marie and Jeannette both feel short of breath, wood smoke is smelt by all members. Marie senses someone standing at the back of her just watching. Marie calls out to spirit and lots of light anomalies are caught on camera. Over by the curtains Jeannette is patted heavily on the head and possible orbs caught on her at the same time. Elizabeth is given. Small featured and wearing a white almost shroud like garment coming up over her head. 1389 is given as the year. She shows Jeannette a tall burly man his face hidden by some sort of leather mask only the lower part of his jaw is visible. He is an executioner and is making Jeannette clap her hands; Jeannette feels her hands and feet are bound together. Elizabeth has exceptionally long slender fingers and she shows the executioner on one side with her in the middle and Mary on the other side. A loud groan is heard and Marie’s camera switches itself on and the batteries having just again been replaced drain in Jan’s camera. Elizabeth was caught and tried as a witch; she survived the ducking and was due for execution but poisoned herself before hand. Mary was her apprentice but some how managed to escape execution. A cat would have been heard meowing in this room; the cat would have been black. Mary has been seen in the upstairs rooms but commonly mistaken as a monk as she wears a large brown cloak with a hood that covers her entirely. She does not seem to be a nice person and this moment in time is trying to recite a curse, Jeannette quickly reinforces the protection around everyone, she also feels that this is not Mary but another energy who does not like us. Marie is suddenly shaking and has a very heavy head. Jeannette tries to move out of the atmosphere and starts to cough violently and suddenly starts to shout no fire, no fire get me out, no fire, she falls into Pete and they tumble to the floor. Helen from the other group is called in and she makes sure Jeannette is ok. Helen’ team – Witches room. The medium picks up on an 18/19 year old woman who was raped; she had dark eyes and was an ‘English rose’. The name of Elizabeth is given. She would have been held for 1 or 2 days by a powerful man who had run of the village; he attacked a lot of the girls. Elizabeth was killed by accident. Not murder, but by the physical/mental abuse she suffered. She is a residual energy. Helen feels like she is being pulled to the fireplace. There is a man in the corner of the room, year 1518/1580 John the smith – a blacksmith He shows Helen he died of a stabbing he was 26 years old and gives Helen the conditions he suffered which were pains across his back and the feeling of air pushing his rib cage. He was stabbed downstairs and ran upstairs and died in the corner of the room, trying to be quiet and rocking in the corner. His murder was an accident they got the wrong man. It is a residual energy that plays over and over the events leading up to his death. A cat called Arthur is felt in here brushing around legs a ginger tom cat. Bishops Room. Martin Proser, 1890’s liked fishing, a jolly chap missed taking his son fishing. He was religious and used to stay at the Inn. A travelling salesman always carried his red pocket bible with him and used to read some pages every night before retiring. A man is watching us from the corner short 5’6” mousey hair, short beard and moustache. Seems very smug, has a scar on his forehead which he is proud of. The scar runs from his hair line down to his right eye. Possibly French as Pierre/Peter given. Called to assist with other team….. Tea break… 1.45am clocks go back at 2am so we get an extra hour! (1.15am) 2.15am Attic as one team. We try our new planchette which holds a pen for automatic writing but nothing happens although the board does ‘wobble’ slightly. Helen calls out to spirit and Jan’s batteries yet again die. Nothing seems to be happening so we go back to the witch’s room. A small group try glass divination; Jeannette decides to write the notes as feels uncomfortable in this room. Jan to her greatest pleasure sees a spirit cat walk from the armchair to under the table, Gemma takes a photo and there is a cat like face in it. Helen calls out to spirit inviting them to come and talk. I will now do the questions and answers as they are asked; yes are represented by the glass moving No by no movement. Q Is Edward here/ A Yes Q Did you live here? A Yes Q Do you control Mary & Elizabeth? A Yes Q Are there any other spirits here? A Yes Q Do you wish ill intent on anyone here in this room? A Yes The names are recited of all in the room and on Marie’s name the glass moves. On Jeannette’s name the glass goes mad spirit is reminded he can not harm any of us here as we are all protected, he says yes. Q Are you happy living here? A Yes Q Are you happy with Mary & Elizabeth here? A Yes Q Do you want to leave this place? A No Q Are you grounded here? A Yes Q Would you free the two ladies? A No Q Are you afraid to move on? A No Q Is there anyone here in this room you recognise/ A Yes glass goes to Marie Through numerous questions it transpires Marie was a witch tried and killed by this man in a past life. We explain to Marie he can do her no harm but she has to appreciate that he is pretty confused knowing he killed her to find her popping up regularly at the Ancient Ram …. Marie has an unfounded fascination with the place and is an avid visitor. This could well be why she has an affinity with the building and especially in this room. This man is not worried that he killed Marie, she was a difficult one to dispose off, and he still spends his time in hunting them down. Q Do you realise Jeannette is not a witch? A Yes glass goes mad. Q Do you realise Marie is not a witch? A No Q Was Jeannette a witch in a previous life? A No It then seems that Jeannette was his lover, he had two daughters that ended up both practising witches, Jeannette helped them escape his clutches, as a witch hunter he was compelled to try them and punish. He sought Jeannette out and killed her in her previous life. He is getting annoyed now so we close down the circle by asking him to leave and give him permission to remain in the house. We close down the investigation. Everyone seems to have had an enjoyable/interesting night. Protection is reinforced and all spirits are asked to return from whence they came and the night is over. It is odd to note that at no time did the emf go off unlike earlier in the evening nor any temperature fluctuations were shown. We thank John for his kind hospitality. |
