CAREW CASTLE.

CAREW CASTLE

THE G.I.Ts TEAM ARRIVED EARLY TO SET UP FOR THE EVENING, IN THE CAR PARK WE WERE ALL
LAUGHING AND JOKING AND AS SOON AS WE NEARED THE ACTUAL CASTLE WE ALL FELT VERY
UNEASY. WE HAD INVESTIGATED THIS VENUE BEFORE AND NO ILL FEELING OR UNEASINESS HAD
BEEN FELT BY ANYONE. WE HAD A NIGHT OF MOODS CONSTANTLY CHANGING, IF YOU WERE
FEELING HAPPY IT QUICKLY CHANGED TO UNEASE. AS IF SOMEONE WERE STALKING YOU OR JUST
STANDING THERE WATCHING.
WE HAD NUMEROUS REPORTS THROUGHOUT THE NIGHT OF PEOPLE THINKING A TEAM MEMBER
HAD RUN ON AHEAD AND HAD STOPPED SOYOU COULD CATCH UP. BUT NO ONE LEFT THE GROUPS
AND WHEN YOU REACHED THE DESTIANTION NO PERSON COULD BE FOUND.
WAS IT THE FULL MOON AND THE HIGH TIDES??? WHO KNOWS?
TWO OF THE MEDIUMS WERE CONSTANTLY BEING CLOSED DOWN BY THEIR GUIDES, WHICH IS
ANNOYING BUT THEIR SAFETY COMES FIRST.
AND WE THINK THE SPIRITS OF CAREW HAVE SHARES IN DURACELL…NEVER BEFORE HAVE WE HAD
SO MUCH BATTERY DRAINAGE, POOR JAN HAD TO CHANGE HER CAMERA BATTERIES OVER 6 TIMES.
SO WITH INTREPIDATION AND A KEEN EAGERNESS TO FIND OUT WHAT WAS CAUSING THE UNUSUAL
FEELINGS WE BEGAN OUR INVESTIGATION.

We had three teams;
Team A led by Peter, Team B led by, Angela, Team C led by Helen

TEAM A; Chapel.

The sensation of being watched, a lady is seen standing to the right, and a man looks like a pedlar
dressed in sackcloth type of clothing. He is of noble gentry but comes in disguise to meet this lady.
His name is Robert Wychell and lived in a village nearby, the lady is Elizabeth Hall.
Bluebells is being shown and it is thought this is the name of the house he lived in.

Kitchen;

Libby and Jan go in first and Libby see’s a gauze curtain in front of the window. As the others join
them the curtain fades away. Nothing forthcoming.

Lesser Hall.

Jeannette feels she wants to cry in here but has no reason why she feels like this. Someone tells us
to get out and doesn’t want Jason up on the stage. Jeannette asks spirit to give us proof that he is
here, instead he shouts at her and swears. This spirit is a large man bull necked and bald. He is
heard walking round the castle, he still wants us out. His name is James Matthews. He was illiterate.
He looks like a blacksmith wearing a big brown leather apron. He says he worked here, he was a
bully, he had murdered. 1714 is given then he tells us he passed on 24.08.1714 (the castle became
uninhabited in the late 1600’s so we are not sure why he says he worked here). He is still swearing
and Jeannette tells him to stop, we are of no threat to him just wish to learn about how he lived and
what he done. He calms down and tells us he was murdered, stabbed to death by a gang near the
second set of castle gates. The name of R Thomas is heard.
And all goes quiet.

We radio the other groups to see how they are doing they are not getting much information either
so it is decided to take a coffee break and re-group into two teams not three.

11.35pm Kitchen

Jeannette draws a gentleman. Martin feels cobwebs on his head, someone is playing with Lee’s hair
(not that he has a lot)! A misty form has been seen moving out of this room a female form.
Jeannette and Jan both clearly see a white shape come down the hall.
Nothing else is received.

Lesser hall.

James Matthew is quick in his return he tells us he killed over 10 people on orders, he either hung
them or killed with a sword. He was not paid for doing it but instead was allowed the favours of any
of the women working in the castle, he did not kill in the castle but outside, he tells us we have no
reason to be scared of him tonight. He is a grounded spirit; he then retracts what he said earlier as
he says... “I didn’t work here I only came for my payment” he seemed to be some sort of money
collector. And was the ‘heavy’ if you did not pay. Lee is shown a black horse with gold reins, a sign
that this man worked for a lord/nobleman he was therefore never confronted until one day people
had had enough and ganged up on him. He was 32 years of age when passed. He proudly states he
had fathered many children …not surprising considering his payment!

Chapel.

Unbeknown to Jeannette Peter has left the room to check on the other group, Jan sits down to
scribe and Jeannette sees a man (she thought it was Peter so over 6’ tall) leaning to Jan’s left side
reading the notes. She asks Libby if she can see him, Libby says no one is there with Jan; Jeannette
walks over to Jan and suggests she moves out the way, she then asks Pete what he was reading….
Pete had not returned and no one had been seen standing next to Jan, Jeannette describes what
she saw and photos are taken, a red orb shows up where the man would have been and two where
Jan had been sitting.
Lee is linking in and has information about a lad who passed in a road accident, it is felt strongly
that this message was possibly for Peter., and not to be reported here.

Team B

Upstairs rooms. 10.00pm

Lee feels warmth around him the temperature on lee is 22.5c the room is 20c He then jumps up to
25.5c the room stays the same. A man is linking in who had horrific injuries to his legs and feet, he
feels like a blacksmith and is wearing a long leather apron. The years of 1630 – 1642 are given, he
tells Lee, he is Joseph and that the wounds to his legs were done to stop him leaving the castle.
He is 5’10. His life was taken by having his throat cut, mistaken identity. He is not grounded and
comes back in visitation the memories he has of this place are horrific... which bodes the
question…why return? He says he is free of the images and likes to visit.
Rod is standing in the corner and says he feels shivery not cold just a funny feeling all over. The
temperature around him is fluctuating between 24c – 26.5c
Joseph looks very unkempt with a scruffy ginger beard, he says in his job you were always dirty.
Rod has the zip on his jacket hit. Helen gets a song in her mind which suggests spirit don’t want to
talk to us tonight.
No one in the group have any knowledge of who or what might haunt this castle so when both Rod
and Martin go to a corner and out of the blue Martin says that he thought an animal had been kept
here, he had no idea why he said it just felt he had to, and this is the room where an ape was kept
and is said to haunt the castle.

Coffee break.

Two teams join together, Great Turret 12.00.

Both Rod and Lee get the feeling of being sick and Lee feels he is swaying, Rod feels someone
touching his hair. No other information.

Lesser Hall 12.10

Noises are heard coming from the stage, someone draws close to Jeannette and makes her pace
quickly back and forth. Lee asks her questions and it James Matthews who she had spoken to
earlier. He says he is not here on his own there are at least 8 others around.
He re-tells his story to those who had not been there earlier.

1.35am West wing.

Walking by we all hear a very loud ping ping sound. Jan and Lee see a man in the 3rd floor window,
right hand side. Jeannette sees a man walk across both 2nd floor windows. There are no floors to
this part so no unruly members were wandering around!
Jan hears a man whispering. Lee and Jeannette call out and orbs are caught on camera.

Team C … 10pm West Wing

Going up the stairs feels like you’re being pushed back. Emf goes off by the portcullis. A woman
walks through here in residual energy only, Feels she walks through the room and goes through
the wall, following an old walkway (no longer here). Emf goes again, Kerry hears her name
whispered. The woman is a servant /maid in her mid 30’s. Very pretty has long hair/shoulder length.
People have seen her here. Phil picks up that somebody has done a runner from here, to get out.
Jayne can hear a strange noise like a shshsh. Helen has palpitations and feels sick. Emf goes again
when sensor put down the portcullis bars, but only on the one side nearest the doorway. Phil says
the portcullis holes were for pouring hot oil down (confirmed).
The strange noise is heard again like breathing It later transpires there are barn owls nesting and
the strange heavy breathing noise is in fact them.

10.30pm top room

Phil feels somebody was locked in here, Helen calls out, her feet are boiling hot as if there was a
fire here. Jayne can smell a foul smell.
Down one flight of stairs to an open room. Phil says these were bedchambers, but joking and
drinking would also have taken place, this is again residual.

Coffee break

11.40pm Great Hall.

Phil has a headache, nothing else so we move upstairs.

Here Phil feels a monkey/ape would sit up here and also runs around. This ape has been seen and
heard screaming by people. The room feels calm. Phil says the monkey was shot by an arrow then
thrown into the fire and burnt, burnt alive. The red orbs caught on camera he believes to be the
ape. He feels it is about 3’ tall and orangey brown in colour.
Helen sees an orb in the corner, Phil sees a shadow of a person. Helen is seeing lights everywhere,
spirit is here. Helen feels we are being watched from the top corner. Phil feels it is the ape, who
can not understand what is being said but is coming in to investigate. It’s a shame we have no fruit,
it would probably have taken it.
The spirit watching us is moving around as Helen continues to call out. Spirit tells Helen they are
not performing seals! Helen feels a pain in her chest.

11.30pm Great Porch.

Earlier on Phil had seen a man walk past the doorway outside in the courtyard.
Not a pleasant atmosphere in here. Phil sees somebody has been badly hurt possibly tortured. They
were cut and beaten for something they did not do. Blue light seen in the corner. The person was
pushed into the room for the beating.

12.35 Return to Great Hall.

Phil sees a woman wearing a light/white dress seen in light form walks up the stairs and disappears.
Phil and Helen see her as a white shape on the 2nd level her name is Nesta.
In the corner you can hear footsteps above as if someone is pacing back and forth.

12.50 Kitchen area’s

A sweet flowery smell is smelt by Helen and Phil, and Ian can smell daffodils.
Jason thinks this room could have been a store room. Phil thinks this room might have been a
weapons store or restroom. Laughter – Ian feels it is a corridor rather than room.

Break

1.30am Chapel

Helen is calling out, Phil say’s the monkey’s name was Satan and even though this is a place of
worship the monkey used to perform tricks here. He was taught by whistles. And whistles would
have been heard here.
Something moves next door then something bangs the wood behind Phil who lives up to his new
nickname of Linford Christie and runs.

1.55am Return to Kitchen

Phil has a headache feels people laughing and drinking, very angry a murder. Helen has a dry
mouth, Kerry also has a headache and Ian has a stiff neck. It is felt that the entrance wall to the
kitchen is not the original –not meant to be here. Both Helen and Kerry feel sick and Helen’s jaw is
aching. Phil thinks the kitchen was too small for the main castle feels this would have been used
just for servants.
Only residual energies are felt here.

2am under croft.

Phil explains that all the mediums have felt a crushing sensation whilst here. A man has been seen
standing in the room behind us; he was crushed to death over a short period of time. This man is a
Celt not a nice person. He was crushed by an animal. People have felt that as they walk to this area
their normal gait is strained. This man is active and has been following us around. He does not like
Jeannette and wants to take her over. He watches us whilst we take our breaks. Helen’s chest feels
it is being crushed.

All the groups have joined together for the last part of the investigation.

2.20am Chapel

We all get seated; Jeannette and Martin are sitting where Phil had sat earlier, Pete by one door, Lee
and Phil by another.
Phil calls out for Satan and whistles, lee calls out for Satan. We can all feel energies building up.
Jeannette sees somebody walk behind Helen and Lee hears a noise like a stone falling. There is
movement in the room next door. Phil, Lee and Helen go next door. Lee and Phil both see a red
orb. They come running out as Phil has his arm grabbed by a man and is pulled into another little
room there, his arm is scratched and he is shaking.
We decide to try elsewhere.

2.45am Lesser Hall

Lee calls out, Phil has static on his face orbs are caught on camera. Lee calls out for Satan. Voices
are heard by the majority in the room and clear footsteps are heard as if walking on wooden floors.
Pete, Lee and Phil go outside to make sure no one has got into the castle, no one is wandering
around.
Lee calls out again a soft growl is heard by most of the group. Helen calls out and a bang heard on
stage. Lee and Phil hear a man’s voice. Jeannette and Lee see a shadow in the corner; orbs are
seen by all the mediums. Jeannette can see someone standing behind Lee.
Lee invites them to come and talk, a noise is heard outside. Banging on stage again.

The investigation finishes at 3.15am

THIS WAS AN INTERESTING NIGHT; DATES GIVEN DON’T SEEM TO TIE UP WITH SOME OF
THE HISTORY. BUT, ALL THE MEDIUMS SEEMED TO HAVE PICKED UP ON SIMILAR
PEOPLE AND EPISODES, JUST DIFFERENT ERA’S.
