CAREW TIDAL MILL   6.10.06

We arrived at Carew bringing with us showers, high winds and unusually high
tides; it was a typical
Autumnal night fairly chilly 12c and a waxing moon, which lit up the night sky
admirably.
We were eager to start the investigation and divided into two teams with battery
trouble from the
start we wondered what would transpire through the evening.
We apologise in advance for the asterisked swear words, it is our policy not to
swear whilst on
investigations but it has been decided to include them in the report due to the
uncharacteristic use
of these words from our team.

9.45pm Top Floor Peter’s team.

We all feel like we are being watched, we try to stand with our backs to
something as it feels ‘safer’ we are
very nervous, (yet had felt fine before hand).
There is a very large spirit man making him self known to Jeannette, he would
have been like an overseer ,
he is strong in energy but Jeannette’s guides tell her he is of no threat just
strong.
A young woman Nancy shows herself the year 1585 – 1598, she was illiterate.
She acts a lot older than her
tender years of 14. She tells us she worked here but is suddenly pushed out of
the way and is blocked from
talking to us. A tall man comes through he places Jeannette’s hands around her
neck, not tightly but
Jeannette can not physically remove them, he tells/shows us that when he
punished the women for not
working properly he had great delight in holding them round the neck forcing
them backwards, he now
does this to Jeannette, and would lean them out of the windows, sometimes he
would rape them as well.
The name of Mathias is given. Jeannette although in a compromising position is
able to talk quite easily and
her body temperature fluctuates any where from 12c – 28c as the man talks and
shows her what he done.
Mathias tells Jeannette she reminds him of Rose,  he lets her go with an
apology.

Helen standing near a grain chute feels that a young boy of 4/5 years was stuck
in the chute and passed by
being suffocated when after he had been sent down to clear a blockage someone
let more grain in, never
realising that the poor lad was in the chute. He had blonde/fair hair name of
Michael and the year has to be
early to late 1600’s as more than three people all said a variant of the 1600’s.

Near the hearse.

The name of John Edward Humphries is given and he tells how he was
mistakenly buried alive, he rang the
bell to alert people but no one came and he suffocated.  He was a large portly
man of some substance it is
felt, and he is a bit annoyed that they never placed his wig on him when they
buried him. The Georgian era
is given.  Natasha is having difficulty breathing and has a tight chest, picking
up on the man’s conditions.
There is darkness next to where Jeannette is standing and we are all surprised
when Peter turns round
and quite firmly says "step back"  to what looks like air …. He has been feeling
very cold and could feel a
spirit energy drawing close and didn’t like what he felt.

Tea Break and the whole group unite to return to the hearse area

10.40pm Top Floor again.

Helen has the shivers, normally a very placid calm investigator she really does
not like the top floor.
Jeannette is told, “If you want to play then let’s play” Kerry feels sick.
Standing by the hearse again, Lee is very quiet, Jeannette gets the impression
of men and women standing
around the cart but they are not from the era of the hearse nor are they dressed
in Georgian/Victorian
clothes. They show themselves in white bonnets with simple gowns of mainly
green, the men are dressed
in black knicker bocker type leggings with black coats and wide rimmed black
hats. All are simply dressed
and standing in a circle. The gentleman from earlier pops in to tell us his wife
passed the same time as him
her name is Elizabeth. Helen wondered if the ringing of the bell was ignored
because if they had money it
could have been divided out between relatives…. A good thought.
Jeannette asks Lee if he is okay as he is standing very quietly not moving at
all. Lee says his ears have
been blocked as if someone has placed their hands over them so he can not
hear. He is angry and wants to
lash out he says he is p***** off, his face and shape seem to be changing and
you can feel he is not a happy
person. The feeling passes to Jeannette who feels as if she and Lee should be in
a bare knuckle fight, Lee
feels let down and still has an overwhelming urge to shout. He has so much pent
up anger. Peter now feels
sensations similar and we decide to move out of the area.

We go to the other side of the room where earlier Jeannette was shown what a
man did to the women; this
has not been disclosed to the other team.
Lee still feels as if he is in a world of his own, his ears are still blocked. He
sees a goat but has no idea why.
He can not focus because he is angry. Orbs are caught on Lee, Jeannette and
Peter.  Lee has the sensation
of a hanging, he feels a tightness around his throat, the same as Jeannette had
earlier. His feet are off the
ground, but he is not sure if it is a hanging as does not feel correct. Jan and
Jeannette feel he is being
shown the same conditions as Jeannette had earlier.
Lee now has pins and needles all over his face and head and still has an
overwhelming urge to shout. He
can hear footsteps on the staircase.
We decide to try a séance.

11.00pm Séance

Protection is placed around everyone and Jeannette calls out to spirit. Lee is
aching all over, something is
making him feel that he needs to leave the circle. Jeannette and Martin feel a
cold draft and Jeannette has
a headache.  Lee shouts out “have some f****** respect” as a spirit man
impress’s himself upon Lee.  The
man is related to the hearse, a short man, sporting a black beard, wearing a tall
black hat, dickey bow and
black trousers and jacket with a white shirt. He is an undertaker. The era 1735
Martin’s right hand is very cold to touch, the temperature is 25c his left is 28c
Kerry takes a photo and an
orb is captured on his colder hand.

Lee feels like he has been sitting for hours all his joints ache. A loud bang is
heard right behind Jeannette,
someone is again blocking Lee, they don’t want to be found out. Lee hears
horse's hooves outside.
The boy Michael is here and tickling Lee’s, Jeannette and Helen’s noses.
Natasha has a stabbing pain in
her side.

We close the séance and go to the second floor. 11.30pm

Kerry does not feel sick here but now has a headache.
Lee calls out to spirit, the chain that travels down from the floor above moves.
Jeannette and Lee can not
feel any spirit here, but a little while later Jeannette who has been gazing on
and off out off the window
watching ships travel towards the mill (there are no ships),  feels totally
drained of energy and is unable to
walk, she is very upset and tells everyone to go away.   It is decided to have a
break and Jeannette asks the
spirit to move away and is able to gather herself.

Tea break 12.am

12.25am Jan, Jeannette, Tasha, Helen & Pete go back to the hearse area.

Helen calls out, Peter says he is b***** cold. Helen asks if they want us here
and we are told “no we f******
don’t” a loud click is heard behind Helen cobwebs are felt by Jeannette. Poor
Tasha has to put her hood up
as if to hide!
Spirit are here watching but not talking.
Although it is dark up here everyone comments on how much darker it is
suddenly getting. Tasha’s head
feels really heavy and Jeannette is suddenly bent backwards as the male energy
from earlier comes back.
Peter steps behind her a) to prevent her from falling and b) to stop the energy
from becoming to strong. He
is amazed at the energy he feels, the coldness and of a squeezing sensation and
lots of pressure around
him. Jeannette is pushed over backwards further, and the man tells her “he is
hiding the secrets of what
went on and will block other spirits coming through”. Jeannette stands upright
as the man tries to place his
hands over her body, she tells him where to go!

Jan and Jeannette both hear a loud click.

We go down to the lower floor and whilst leaning over the barrier just talking
generally the name Alice
Roberts comes in but any other information is blocked.

The nursery rhyme Simple Simon is heard but sang in a very sneery voice. It is a
woman’s voice, she is seen
by the medium as very small under 4’10 and has very pointed features aged
about 22. She says they are fed
up with the accusations, downright lies and atrocities that are being done. !1300’
s seem to be the era, she
says they were simple herbalists, Madeleine is her name, she is angry but not
with us. There are two of
them here at the moment who lived in the same house together not far from the
mill as it stands now, they
would come down to the sea to collect a type of seaweed/plant for their
medicines.  She interacts with today’
s world and likes to visit the mill to see what is happening. They don’t cause
trouble. She asks if we knew
that the water had been diverted to either accommodate the village, or access
to the village..
She had a sickness of the stomach and died by her own hand, she poisoned
herself. She knew she would
not live for long. She suffered severe back pains and headaches; she had a
tumour in the stomach.
(Natasha wondered if it could have been something to do with her appendix), she
came to help others and
now is angry because people are saying they are evil. This is nonsense and her
friend Margaret agrees
with her, Margaret a gentle soul tells us she passed with old age aged 38. They
used to share the house
and keep poultry. They are good friends. They love to help people and give
Jeannette some herbal advice
for her stomach.
Their cat would have been seen here, mainly by the reception area. A mean
black  tom cat with one white
front paw. Madeline tells Jeannette that the heavy pressure/energy felt upstairs
is no threat he is all talk
and no action. This is a nice place to be.  She says heavy footsteps are heard
all round the building this
would be him.
She says goodbye and tells us it was nice to meet us.

A nice end to our investigation.

Helen’s Team. 9.40pm ground floor.

Poor Lee was well and truly blocked, he picks up on residual energy of an
accident where a man has his arm
stuck in the cogs, surname of Jeffries is given and he would have passed from
this accident due to a loss
of blood. The age of 42 is given. Lee has the feeling it occurred over the large
cogs where the water is
flowing beneath.

Other than the information he received upstairs when both teams joined together
he was closed for the
night.

Helen at 11.40pm joins Lee’s team and also picks up on the accident that Lee
had spoken about earlier, (she
had no prior knowledge) she also pin points the exact same place.

Third floor emergency exit stairs,

Lots of orbs picked up on camcorder but no information.

The evening close about 2am, this is an amazing building and we would
recommend a visit, you can
visit the castle and the mill in one day and at a very reasonable price too.
We could hear many different noises in the building but with high winds and the
sound of water it
was difficult to distinguish most of them.
We thank the trust for allowing us access to this lovely place.
