| GOLDEN GROVE MANSION |
| GOLDEN GROVE MANSION We would like to thank Geraint and Yolande from Ghost watch Wales for allowing us to investigate this wonderful building. On a wonderfully wet and windy summers night we arrived not knowing what to expect from this venue, and although spirit were not very talkative they were certainly watching and keeping an eye on what we were doing. The mansion is in the process of trying to be bought for the service men and women who need to recuperate after serving in Iraq and other war torn zones. Currently there is no where in Wales for them to recover from post traumatic stress syndrome and other complications arising from war, the nearest place is Hedley Court in Surrey. The Golden Grove mansion with its 150 rooms and set in acres of beautiful grounds would be an idyllic place for these men and women and their families to recover. Over 2million pounds needs to be raised to buy the place and then ongoing funds raised to refurbish it. The charity Golden Grove mansion appeal, Healing the Wounds (Click on highlighted words to go to link for charity). Is raising awareness and doing what ever fund raising they can to help obtain the money for this amazing building. The Investigation. On the walk about Jan and Steve see a maid gazing out of a window, short brown hair, white apron, aged 19 - 20 years in the 1920 era. Feeling of sadness. Name of Sarah Jenkins, she had lost her baby. (Confirmed by Geraint) CELLARS; Steve can sense 15 army officers. They are very smart and just relaxing He senses Americans and the word Lieutenant comes to mind. Jeannette calls out to spirit, we all feel as if we are being watched. Jeannette walks in to a side room and is promptly and clearly told to **** off by a spirit man and she feels as if she is being pushed out. Steve calls out, he can see a metal round helmet with a rim. Steve says a spirit gentleman is here and often frequents this area. The name of Gilmore , he is deaf. Steve feels as if his ears are filling up with water, drowning. A man drowned in the river, deep water - tree being shown, no leaves - it is the last thing this man saw. Not a military man. A farmer aged 61. Out catching rabbits, he fell into the water, a strong current took him under and he drowned. He could swim but with his winter clothing and heavy boots and the strong current he had no chance of swimming to the banks. His name was Oscar, the year 1880 around Christmas time. He left two daughters Annabelle and Isobel and his beloved wife. He is not grounded but comes in visitation, not related to the mansion but his farm was nearby and he enjoys wandering the land. He wants Steve to find the tree by the river. He also mentions about bats and then takes his leave. A little further along the corridor Steve calls out again … the response is for a spirit man to call him a rat! A tall man (spirit) about 6’ with a big presence. Not a nice man, the heavy! A maintenance and construction man who also made horseshoes and was a cobbler. He worked here a long time. Was the main man with others working under him. Lots of horses about. Julie is light headed. Small children aged /4 years of age dressed in Victorian style clothing. KITCHEN; Jeannette starts to walk leaning to he right side as if slightly deformed in some way, her right arm hangs down and she limps, This is quite funny to watch, but other than her sensing a female with this condition nothing else is forthcoming.. Steve sense chickens! And Jeannette (now back to herself) senses the names of John and either Richard or Robert and a date of the early part of the 1640’s SERVING ROOM; Someone touches Steve’s arm and he jumps, Jeannette can see the spirit of a young man who has taken a fancy to Steve and has decided to have a bit of fun with him. The spirit is in his 20’s not overly tall. Steve jumps again as the spirit nudges him and touches him again, as funny as this is for everyone watching Jeannette asks the spirit to respect Steve’s sexuality and to leave him alone. The young man apologises and moves away. Steve senses a dog and feels his feet being touched and the name of either Reuben or Russell. 11.30pm …… Tea break The girls go off to the loo’s and on the way a strong smell of honeysuckle wafts around them, by torch light they look for the plant or any plant nearby that is giving of such a heady scent none can be found. As they round the corner to the toilets a very strong smell of smoke hits all three of them, for this there is no explanation other than Jeannette feels the building was burnt down and another built but in a slightly different area. This has since been found to be true, there was considerable fire damage to one mansion and another had been rebuilt slightly higher up than the previous building. The name of Margaret also comes to mind and the sense of her walking round this area. As we walk up the main staircase Jeannette senses a man watching from the top balustrade, an owner of the house not a happy man. Years of 1745 - 1747 are given. Steve sees the maid he and Jan saw earlier walking up the stairs carrying yellow tulips. In the main room at top of the stairs Jeannette is being pushed by spirit. She asks why but no reply and they stop. Steve has someone called Bernard, tall and stocky, thick ginger hair, bushy eyebrows, a moustache smoking a pipe aged late 60’s early 70s. Man of the house feeling, very well spoken. CLOCK TOWER; This is wonderful, the true sense of the house comes out up here a sense of pride. Spirit do not seem to want to communicate so the team splits up and the girls move down a floor and the boys stay in the tower, where Steve picks up on a young lad aged 10 years old, he is winding the (clock confirmed - this would have happened) The lad had to remain quiet whilst winding and was allowed to take a bucket of water with him for drinking. The girls have no luck at all with any spirits communicating. SECOND FLOOR; Feeling that it does not belong to the original part of the house. Jeannette’s right side goes again. We call out but nothing is happening. TOP OF MAIN STAIRS; Jeannette feels a man has gone charging along the landing area and either tripped and fallen down the stairs or bumped into someone and they have fallen down. As she says this there is a firm touch on her arm as if someone is stopping her going any further. (Geraint verifies this later on). Steve sees a large rust coloured Springer spaniel type dog on the stairs. Light anomalies are seen on the stairs with camcorder, camera and naked eye. Jeannette senses a male spirit going over the top corner of the banister/balustrade as if hanging himself. She leans right out and then horror as the spirit gives her the sensation of dropping. (Geraint again verifies this feeling and confirms that unfortunately there had been a death ). Feels as if people on the stairs would have the sensation of being moved out the way. We decide to do an emf and we are awaiting analyses of this. Steve is told “leave me alone” Lots of anomalies are caught on camera some so white we do believe these may be orbs. ASSEMBLY ROOM; Scrying; Steve sees a face over Jan’s which looks male of Spanish orientation and crying. Jan gets the name Eliz/Elizabeth Hutchings. Séance; The room gets a little darker and Steve senses children, servants. He can hear ring a ring a roses and a boy and girl enter in old fashioned clothes. Light anomalies are seen near the door where the children are sensed. The girl is aged 6 and called Florence The boy is aged 4/5 and called Michael. He’s showing bagpipes. They show Steve themselves milking cows. Not grounded just visitation. Brother and sister very happy. 1840’s. Séance is closed down and he investigation comes to a close at 3am An amazing building full of history and energies. For us, not receiving much communication from spirit is okay. They don’t have to perform for us at anytime we knew they were there and that’s good enough. This mansion holds a lot and to have it restored to its former glory would be amazing, it is sadly neglected and just having it back as a whole would reap many rewards for the living as well as those deceased. We would love to return to re investigate this building. Postscript; It has since been noted that the sweet honeysuckle smell may have come from a large bush/tree that was nearby but we can not account for the smell of smoke! |
