| OYSTERMOUTH CASTLE. Investigation held on 9th July 2011 in readiness for Swansea Life Magazine's Halloween special. The group met in a car park a little way from the venue as we had no idea where it was, Only Jason knows the details and takes us there. … what a wonderful sight to behold, the land is gentle in energy. The building impressive yet welcoming. Whilst waiting for our hosts to arrive, Jeannette is told the name linked to here is something like Dubouis or Bouisson (spelling is done phonetically as no idea of actual spelling), and clearly the name Alyse spelt with an s not a c. She tells two people and no more is said. Which is interesting as later Jan gets the unusual names (again phonetically spelt), of Aleonora/Aleona and also Debroase, which she doesn't’t feel is the surname of Aleonora/Aleona. However the name Debroase was also picked up on a previous investigation at Hay Castle - is there a possible link? Our hosts arrive, Julie and Pat are waiting for the main gate to be unlocked and have an overpowering feeling of unease, they have no idea why and it soon passes. We later find out that they had been standing under the portcullis and the area where boiling oil or hot sand would have been poured onto unsuspecting invaders. After a health and safety briefing we are taken on a tour of the building and land. The building has been fortunate to be going through a renovation and although only phase one has been completed, it is being sympathetically carried out and you can sense the buildings and spirits relief in being reborn. We enjoyed the tour with Roger and bless him he was so keen to explain which part of the building we were in and the history we all felt really bad asking him to keep quiet, as none of us (apart from Jason), had any idea of this buildings location yet alone the history of it. Roger is keen to take us outside to investigate a piece of land, a few Mediums have come up with information and he wished to see if we could link in and possibly get the same connection. As we walk down hill towards the area Jeannette is humming “if you go down to the woods today, your in for a big surprise” and funnily enough we were! All our Mediums/Sensitive’s picked up on hangings as we approached a certain area. Also women being used by groups of men for sexual gratification (wenches). Jan is feeling sick, and her throat feels full, also feels as if hands are going round her throat. She senses a female in white, running. We all sense women being dragged here, of people being burnt, and fires and Peter feels as if other buildings had been here (confirmed). A man has been seen walking and running into this area. We all pick up on Witchcraft and Pat hears “we have finished with her now” and also “didn't’t go according to plan”. Bodies would be buried here to the right of the castle. Peter suffers a very painful headache and asks for it to be taken away, in seconds this has gone. Jeannette draws a very rough sketch of a man, a game keeper; John, who keeps saying “they came out of the trees” and a date of 1504. We are asked to look at the scaffolding, and if we sense anything, more than one of us confirm that a male figure is seen at approximately the 3rd level, staring at us. He puts the fear of God into Jeannette who is not comfortable at all. She is then told that the castle is cursed. (We don’t believe in curses, we feel it is the actual belief in them that makes it work not the ‘curse‘ per say ). The fact of this energy being so strong could well make anyone on the scaffolding fearful and run in blind panic, a pretty dangerous place to be if this happens. We return to the hub and get the equipment ready for the investigation. Unbeknown to Jason who’s celebrating his birthday, a cake has been bought, so we light the candles and sing Happy Birthday, much to his embarrassment and amusement. And with light hearts we start our investigation at the top of the battlements. Battlement- Chapel side 10 pm From here on, I will just give information gathered by all the group rather than individual mediums, as everyone picked up on so much. A shortness of breath felt by all. An Abbott, dressed in black robes with crimson and a gold emblem possibly an eagle of some description. The chapel is sumptuous, above and beyond the wow factor. (Unfortunately we had no access at this time to the Chapel). He was favoured by the mistress/lady of the castle, hence the decadent decorations . Felt he was having an affair with her. As this is mentioned one Medium has to step away as feels angry and wants to silence the other person giving the information. . . (Condition .... being overshadowed by the Abbott). He may have had dealings with those accused of witchcraft, his opinion mattered. He did respect people, but may have abused his power which led him to being unhappy. Although we are told “it was his right to do what he did” He was never caught, a lady would supply the women, who were then accused of witchcraft and burnt/disposed of so no one could tell tales. “they are being caught out” is heard. A chamber possibly the ladies bed chamber next to the chapel. Strongly felt that we had been watched from the main front facing window of the Chapel upon our arrival and that a man/figure has been seen watching people. Name of Henry (came up a few times by different people) and Augustus heard once. A well dressed man on a horse comes through the gate, pulling an injured man (his servant/valet) behind on a wooden pallet. The injured man has part of his leg missing and is covered in blood. They were caught in an ambush, outlaws are in the woods and attacked the men. The man on the horse was bringing an important message for William. “Fire” is being called and it is felt there had been possibly three or four fires that had destroyed parts of the castle. It is very busy and bustling. Lots of horses and people around inside the Castle walls. A young boy is running to and fro. Also a woman with long dark hair wearing a white dress is seen on the battlement walls. Outside glass entrance to gain access to Chapel area . Feeling of sickness, hearts pounding, someone does not want us to be here. A large spirit man sensed. He is linked with rape and various sexual abuses, and for women to turn up is not good. Helen is feeling almost hysterical with fear, and has to step away. It is in hindsight that we realise Helen seems to have picked up the energy of negativity here, as later on she is overshadowed by a spirit man. Jonathan aged 23 years, beaten up by two other men, feel sharp pain to head left side, he dies of his injuries. He was running to the Chapel for sanctuary as two brothers were chasing him for having got their sister pregnant and refusing to marry her. The girl was screaming for them to stop. He was already married. The men were not held accountable for his death. This area does not feel right at all, the walls are hiding something! Just off this area is a very small low room, Roger asks Jeannette if she senses anything here, in the floor is a medium sized hole and Jeannette feels that a body was found here, possibly a murder victim. Cellar (possibly) with supporting pillar. 10.40 pm On the way down here Helen and Jeannette both feel as if they’re being followed by a male spirit, also getting “a walk of death!” A set of steps to our left feels unnerving and lots of energy running back and forth. The male energy stops outside the cellar area as if he is unable to go any further. Feeling that people were tied to the pillar. Pat has tingling down her back. A feeling of waiting to be dealt with. Helen asks if water had flooded this room, Jeannette feels the water was behind Helen, Jason confirms that in this area water tanks would have been stored, so it is possible that there may have been a flood. Although this room feels like a store room we all sense it is more like a cell or torture chamber. People being tied up, walk of death, drowning of people who have been tied . . . . Jason explains that the room underneath this one would have been the area for all this type of things to happen, which explains why we all felt funny about it being here. . . Energy travel is a wonderful thing! Helen is feeling very anxious and fearful about the man waiting outside. Banqueting Hall 11.05 pm It seems the last owners were happy here. This area does not feel like a banqueting hall, it feels like a type of court. A spirit is seen looking round the door way, a young male. Music is played to hopefully attract spirit back in, but nothing forthcoming. Down a narrow passage to a large room 11.15 pm Medieval music played for a short time, but no real response. It is felt that the people who lived here were “well to do” and happy. For some unknown reason Jeannette and Helen stand back to back, but not contacting, Jeannette feels someone to her left as Helen says how hot Jeannette’s back is. Jeannette’s feeling hacked off, fed up and wanting to swear… (this is not her feelings but of the spirit nearby). Irish wolfhounds are sensed lying before an open fire. Helen and Jeannette feel as if they are being pushed apart from each other, as if someone wants to step in between them. Helen calls out to spirit, Jeannette is now being pushed into Helen. We decide to see if we get different reactions if we change people over. It is decided to leave Jeannette as the main energy and change Helen over with Pat. Jeannette has a fit of giggles and being clearly pushed forward. Jan swaps with Pat, Jeannette is pushed further forward. Pete exchanges with Jan and Jeannette is pushed forward and to one side. Helen steps in Jeannette rocks backwards. Julies energy pushes Jeannette away. Debbie steps in and Jeannette is pushed right forward. Mark now stands firm against Jeannette’s back, but Jeannette actually pushes him out the way and it looks like she may fall backwards. He stands firmly in place and there is a strong pushing into him, in the end Jeannette has to move aside as she can not stand the pain of the force pushing into her lower rib area. (Indeed on Sunday morning Jeannette has a bruise in this area). It was a strong battle of energy into who would remain standing. Someone (spirit) on the scaffolding is watching, and seen as a man in black, a very powerful energy, he is commanding us to do his will, he feels like a sorcerer type of person, and would have used magic or some form of hypnosis or drug to make others bow to his will. Jeannette feels as if she has been run through with a sword or some type of metal under the rib cage and out the back. Pat says he has told her he wants to go through Jeannette, she is the powerful one, he chose her, picked her out. Jeannette reinforces her protection this is one spirit she does not wish to channel in any shape or form. He points to the group and says “there are four witches amongst you” so Jeannette asks him tell some body who they are, what she didn't’t do is explain exactly to the others how spirit may communicate, so Mark who she had suggested, really was unsure on how to understand if he had been communicated with or not …lesson learnt and apologies. Jan suddenly gets Jerusalem and the Crusades. It would appear with all the pushing etc that this spirit displayed, he was trying to show us how much power he has, if he is the one that walks the scaffolding areas then woe betide anyone who happens to see him. I feel he would throw energy at a solid form and just move it, so people do need to be careful. Area 6 A large room, quite tall and which we feel is the banqueting hall. Before we enter this area properly, Jason asks Jeannette what she feels on a few shallow steps leading from the covered walkway to this room, she goes to the middle of the arch/doorway leading into another room and marches forward with fists clenched as if holding something tightly in both hands, but seems unable to enter the covered walkway. This large male energy would have been felt pushing past people quite forcefully although not maliciously. Jeannette is asked to enter the hall, and Pete stands on the steps. Jason asks what she sees when she looks at Peter, straight away she see a slim woman, not overly tall and slight in stature. Nobility without a doubt, as she feels herself standing taller and gently clasps her hands in front of her. This lady has long wavy chestnut hair and commands to be noticed. No name is given, although the name Jeannette received at the beginning of the night is put in her mind ‘Alyse’ . Time period is felt by several of us to be prior to Owain Glyndwr, possibly early 1400’s. Large Room to the left of this hall All feel we are being watched by unseen people from above us. Helen does not seem right, we are in an area with lots of scaffolding poles and behind Helen steps down to cells or cellars that although are railed off would not stop someone going over the top. Helen's face has changed she is now sporting a goatee type moustache and her hair is longer. She looks angry, frustrated and upset all the same time. Jeannette asks her if she is OK, no response. On touching Helen she seems to not really be with us eventually she responds to Jeannette but is not herself at all. She is talked through a sequence to try and get the spirit to leave her, eventually she seems to be herself. Whilst doing this Jason gets the name of Joshua. Time has beaten us on this investigation and we sadly have to close the night down. There are areas we would love to go to in the future and hope we can have that opportunity. Our hosts were really enthusiastic and encouraged us all the way and we would like to say a heartfelt thank you for allowing us this unique opportunity to investigate, and for them giving up their valuable time. POSTSCRIPT; On reviewing cam corder footage it was found that Helen, who always does our recording, had only recorded 35 minutes from the whole night, when we told her she was dumbfounded, as she was certain she had been recording. A case of definitely being affected by spirit outside the chapel area. Others on review were also affected, and several of the photographs clearly show people just not being themselves. We have been invited back and look forward to investigating this phenomena further. |
