| PEMBROKE CASTLE |
This was to be a night of audible’s, unexplained temperature changes, spirit jumping in to people, and a general uneasiness in parts of the castle. Although disappointing in the fact that spirit did not wish to tell us much of their history they certainly made it known they were there! We had three teams; Team One ….. 9.50pm Barbican Tower; A small spirit man is seen as we enter by both Jeannette and Jamie, he is standing in the doorway, he means no harm and tells us he will watch us as we go round the castle, he seems quite bemused, on asking who he is the Mediums are impressed with James Whittaker, Jan says he is to do with royals know and we can but presume this man was to do with the royals that inhabited the castle at one time. The temperature suddenly jumps from 6c – 18.5c Jan takes a photo and a huge orb shows up. The era is 14th century, temperature drops to 5c feels cold and a draft. Jeannette’s ear feels freezing to touch. Jamie sees someone walk across the battlements and a shimmer is seen by Jeannette walk past one of the tables. Jeannette taps on the table and asks spirit if they could do the same, a loud tap is heard. The name of Malcolm comes to Jamie for the small man in the doorway. Mandy can hear tapping coming from the room next door, this is also heard by Jeannette and Annette, we go into that room which is above the battlements. Jamie and Jeannette think Peter has returned after letting some late arrivals in and is standing next to Helen, he hasn’t! Jan, Jamie, Jeannette all hear a loud tapping noise, no physical explanation is found and on calling out it happens twice more. Jeannette doesn’t feel well and Mandy feels this room has become very oppressive. A murder has been committed here and as Jeannette finishes saying that a loud tapping noise is heard again and the room’s energy is now very heavy. We step out onto the small battlement, Jeannette feels very tall and slim very elegant, the name of Margaret is given and she wears a wimple, a medieval style dress, in deep emerald brocade with long sleeves. She also shows herself in a red dress and says she is in mourning for John. She is aged approx; late teens early twenties and is very wistful. She is waiting for someone to return. She is with one male but longs for another. Helen, Jamie & Jeannette all state that they feel someone had fallen over the battlements. The name of Rother ford/Rutherford is given. Henry Charles Wilkinson, as well, but this is felt to be with someone in the group not to do with the castle, Jamie claims the name. Jeannette sees in her minds eye five skulls piled up on each other with a short handled sword on top and a black background, we presumed this to be a crest/ coat of arms/heraldry and have since found out that the insignias stand for….. Sword – Justice and or military, the skulls – Mortality and the black background – Constancy and or grief. Jeannette is told “that there are secrets here that no-one knows, the cross will tell you.” she is shown the sword which looks a bit like a cross laid on top of the skulls again. We are told to go east. So we decide to try the eastern battlements. Jamie sees a man on the battlement and Jan takes a photo, a huge Orb is caught again. We walk the battlements and as Jamie and Jeannette approach a ‘doorway’ she is told “be gone wench, step yea back” he suddenly storms through Jeannette and Jamie and poor Jan gets a blinding headache, so much so she is unable to stand up straight and Peter takes her out of the atmosphere. Jeannette tells the spirit off big time and they decide to go back to the hub to recover as it really did knock Jan for six. As Jan and Jeannette are strolling towards the hub Jeannette feels sick and heaves, she realises that she has walked into an energy and steps aside but before she can place extra protection this spirit hurls her to the ground and she is ‘out of it’ for a while. Jan looks to the tower as she has seen a man peeping out, Jan, Lee and Jamie run over to that area no one is seen there now, Lee can sense the man and gets goose bumps all over. Jeannette has recovered but is much shaken as she says she just felt a huge pain in her chest and as if her very breath was sucked out. Tea break 11.15pm Chapel. Jeannette asks permission to enter the chapel, and as they do she is apologised to by the little man we will call Malcolm for what happened earlier by the tower. Jeannette is told that the previous group in the chapel did not do as requested and leave when asked, they had no respect. Jeannette silently explains that it was no disrespectful but probably a misunderstanding, as we work with the utmost respect to the spirit world, she apologises and she is told to just ask everyone to stand and be still. Which we do. Jeannette is told “Twas a fair blonde maiden that was taken from this castle to be wed to one she did not love- betrothed, the name Jane is given. A black Knight is shown, again the skull and swords are shown, they are suddenly asked to leave for no apparent reason and requested that they come back later to follow up information. The Keep; Other than the sense of children being in this area no spirit contact is made or felt so we go to The Northern hall. Margaret and John are here from the keep in residual. Jeannette says there would have been great fires here. Jamie sees lots of golden lights around the wooden stairs where Jeannette is standing, he goes to step up and is pushed back by spirit. Jeannette and Jamie sense a man standing behind her, he is negative towards people. A thin wiry person, his hair is in the fashion of a page boy style cut, dressed in black, looks like a weasel. He is menacing. On his tunic there is a crest of what looks like a bird head in gold, possibly a falcon. (Falcon represents – One who does not rest until objective achieved). Jeannette is told that a well known wizard is to do with the castle – she says Merlin just as Jamie says it, they both look puzzled. Mandy feels really sick. The group stand at the top of the stairs apart from Jeannette and Mandy; they all feel very apprehensive and are very careful when near the top of the stairs as they all feel as if someone wants to push them down. Jeannette and Mandy go up. Jamie senses a child on the stairwell at the top, Jeannette says “about 7/8 years old?” they can both see him, he is dressed in a sack cloth type of material, and two more children appear. No more information is forthcoming. Tea Break 12.40am Wogan’s Cavern; As we near the entrance to the cavern we are all stopped by the overwhelming feeling of oppression. We step back and ask for permission from the guards that suddenly appear standing at the doorways, Jeannette says something in Latin and permission is granted for us to go down to the cavern. On walking forward it feels to all of us as if we are walking through a heavy cloud substance …weirdest feeling as a group we have ever experienced. On reaching the bottom of the stairwell a man is here who wishes to be released, dressed in tattered clothing, long grey ragged hair, aged very approx; 50 years the year approx; 1637 An image of crates being stacked to the back of the cave, tobacco and wine. The man shows his right leg as having had a shaft of wood going through it, hence the limp. There are three men here in residual only. Jamie has the names of Bruce, Robert and Arthur. Jeannette tells the man we can release him but although she is sure he has been released in the past he returns because he thinks too much of this place, she explains that if he continually thinks of the place then he will keep returning and she tries to persuade him to think of loved ones he has in the spirit world who will finally help him to break free and return ‘home’. Let us hope he can do this, help will be given to him from afar, but at the end of the day it is his choice to move on or remain. Chapel. We return to the chapel, after asking and being granted permission to enter the group stand along the walls. Between Jan and Jeannette the thermometer is showing a hot spot 18c this is unusual in that they are standing near an open ‘window’ with a draft blowing through, the rest of the chapel is 7c, the chapel suddenly warms up to 10c and is felt by all. Jeannette is being shown a man with a sack over his head, he was blessed here and then taken to be executed, he had been tortured to make him talk, Jeannette is told that in 1427, 72 people were killed here. Monks are here in brown habits, there are six of them and have been seen by others. Monks should not have been in the castle, Jeannette is told that a tunnel runs under the moat from the chapel to a priory. She is told that something has changed here things not as they were, and the odd thing is as Jeannette goes to lean against a wall it’s disappearing three times this happens. Four of the monks follow a very strict regime, the other two were not as they seem, Brother Dafydd and Brother Michel were child abusers. The name of Rosemary is prominent to this place. Jeannette asks them to move on as she is not comfortable with them; a small child comes in as soon as the monks have left. He wants us to sing ring a ring a roses with him and his sister Sarah, but we must not fall down as we will die. He runs off to get his sister; a breeze is felt by us all. The boy wants to hold Annette’s hand and Sarah wants to hold Jamie’s. Annette and Jamie both have tingling in their hands and an orb shows up on Annette’s. The children come here in visitation they are not grounded. The boy is ‘fair of hair’ and has one blue eye and one green eye. The children tell us they are going to the keep as the knights are there the name of Lancelot is given. We ask them if they think our clothes look funny, but they say no as they have seen them many times now. We ask if they visit only at night, “yes” he says “it’s easier as the night air is not so dense”. Off they go. Dungeon. Only two names given Ivor and Robert no other connection is made. We decide to finish the vigil. Team Two… 9.50pm Westgate Tower; Lee is told by his guide not to worry but they are being followed by a Cavalier, he is being nosey, and they may feel breathing on their necks. He is currently standing outside the door. He was 37 years old when he passed not in battle but by a wound caused on the battle grounds. He is showing himself in armour, breastplate and on legs. \he was speared on his left side and passed later as a result. The name sounds like Rydean Havlock. He has longish greasy hair swept back and a beard, he stands approx; 6’ 1 and of solid build. Upper Westgate Tower; Lee senses a baby as residual energy. Lee and Sara feel as if they are being pulled backwards in one of the corridors, Lee hears a bang. 10.25pm Chapel; Lee picks up on a little boy, about 6/7 years of age names Peter Richard’s. Joanne says she was given the name Peter four times before they reached the chapel but she was a bit shy of saying so. He was strangled the year approx; 1758, he is here in visitation, he returns because he knows he can not be harmed. Lee hears footsteps on the entrance steps and asks Peter to do it again. Peter is scruffy and dirty and appears to be wearing a dark green top over a creamy shirt type garment, ripped grey trousers, he has curly brown hair. He was a loner/wanderer, he had no family here, and he used to beg. Joanne says she feels as if she is being pulled backwards, Lee had asked peter to tug on her clothes, all goes quiet. Tea Break 11.20pm The Keep Orbs caught on camera, creaking noises heard, muffled talking heard by Lee. Lee calls out and footsteps are heard. Kerry can hear a low buzzing noise to her right, Lee sees spirit walking around the first level. Muffled voices still being heard. A crash noise is heard. The lights go off … then they realise the lights are on a timer…. This is a bit disappointing! No more information. 11.35pm Dungeon tower Lee calls out, a knock is heard, nothing else so move up a level, nothing. We go down to another room a few orbs but no one is talking to us! Tea Break. 12.45am Northgate Tower… Lee calls out to spirit and asks for them to rattle the door, a noise is heard from the doorway. Lee asks again and another tap is heard. Lee asks for 1 tap to be left alone, one tap is heard. Lee asks for two taps to stay, one tap is heard. Angela and Lee leave to get another tape when they return Lee calls out again he asks for a noise a noise is heard outside the doorway. Another noise is heard like a table being pushed along the floor. Angela calls out a tap is heard on the table by the door. Sian feels an icy cold draft on her face. Kerry had felt this earlier. 1.20am Wogan’s Cavern Orbs caught on camera. Lee calls out, picks up on the spirit of a man, clothes and hair all messy, nothing on his feet and no top on. He is very nervous of us and is moving around the edge of the rock face. Very thin, bones sticking out. Aged about 45 died of starvation. A French connection with him he passed in 1767 name of Maurice. He keeps saying “I didn’t do it” he is crouched down with his arms over his head like a wild animal. Nothing else forthcoming, Vigil closed down. Team Three…. 10.00pm Chapel. Phil asks someone to take a photo by the entrance a small orb above the door. Someone asks Phil to leave, Helen then tries to contact spirit, told to leave the room, she continues asking, it is a further 12 minutes before they leave, where Phil is drawn to an opening outside the chapel, we go halfway up Monkton tower to a small room, Phil sees a spirit light by the door. Phil senses a man name of William soldier from WW11 he would have worked in the castle. WW11 seems to be very significant. Helen senses someone blind in one eye and feels someone touch her leg. Phil has been asking a spirit in the adjacent room to join them, but to no avail. 10.40pm Westgate tower Phil senses nothing here, although Martin and Helen are both feeling oppressed whilst leaving the room. Middle level …. Phil checks if Martin is okay, Martin says he is fine but his hand feels warm, Phil confirms there is a man sitting between Martin and Helen. The man is wearing red clothing and gold he sports a moustache. Eddie swaps seats with Martin and Justine with Helen, they both feel warmer. Lights appear on Eddies shins, Phil asks Eddie to talk to the spirit man, so Eddie asks the spirit to make contact. Phil says a spirit is imposing itself over Eddie and Phil asks the group to leave the room. Northgate Tower.. Kate and Brian join the group, Phil is having pains in his chest and a headache a falling over possibly residual. Phil is very apprehensive at moving to the adjoining room. As the last three people leave the room over the battlements a flash and noise is heard from the room we just vacated. Phil sees a large black orb about 12’’ in size Back across the battlements… Phil can smell wood smoke burning in the fireplace, Helen feels dizzy and light headed, Phil feels edgy and thinks he has someone following him/attached to him (spirit person); he has cobweb feelings on his face. Helen and Phil call out to who ever it is following but nothing. The Keep… Helen asks group to take photo’s by the doorways but very flat. The Dungeon Tower…. Nothing. The Great Hall…. Phil has a female spirit in her late 30’s, she lived and died here, natural causes. Wearing a black and white dress, she is in mourning a son lost on a ship in foreign lands. Name of Elizabeth given. She is not grounded. Phil’s head is grabbed by who ever is following him and gives him a headache. Phil sees someone move from the centre of the room to the door three times. Kate feels sad and depressed. Jenny sees the feet of someone walking across the room. The Cavern… Brian can smell horses in the corner. Phil picks up on the feeling of Burial Chambers and is not feeling comfortable. Helen picks up on a man hiding to the right hand side of the group, possibly a roundhead. Nothing else is forth coming so the vigil is closed down. It is with thanks to Pembroke Castle for allowing us to investigate |
