SCOLTON MANOR 13th MAY 2006
We arrived at the Manor to be greeted by Vic, as we entered the building we could feel spirit around
us, Lee saw a butler walk from the drawing room across the hallway and disappear around a
corner…our hopes were raised for an interesting evening.
There were enough of us to do two groups so with Helen leading one and Pete another we went
upstairs to start.
Notes from Helens Team
Playroom 8.15pm
Lee is picking up on a younger sister to Emily who resides at the Manor. Lee feels an icy blast to his right side, a lady is drawing
near to him. She is tall about 5’9 – 5’10, slim with black hair in ringlets her name is also Emily. Aged appx 32. This was her home;
the children here belong to her. Her surname is Jenkins. She tells Lee that we are dressed oddly. She is aware of a spirit man
who lives here, this is her father-in-law.
She says she passed in childbirth with a baby boy.
The lady is protective of her children and is not happy we are here.
The Attic 8.35pm
Vic asks Lee to do psychometry on an object….Lee picks up on a man who was in the Air force. He had a thick black
moustache, and wearing a blazer, his name is Frank. He is American.
Lee believes the object was found in grass which Vic confirms. World war one is being given and the surname of Thompson is
now being picked up on, they passed from a cancerous condition at the age of 41. Lee picks up on someone walking around the
attic area, a man, the name of Gilbert is given – a servant of the house.
Master bedroom
A smell of smoke or tobacco is smelt by everyone. A gentleman steps forward he is 5’4 – 5’5 jolly and stocky in build, wearing a
tailcoat and dickey bow. The name of Arthur Jenkins is given; he lived in the house the year of 1741. This could be the Father – in
– Law we picked up on earlier with Emily. He is holding a stick with a brass knob on the top; he passed away in this bedroom
from a fever at the age of 78.
The fever was caused by an infection from a wound in his left hand, which caused blood poisoning. He had caught his hand in a
trap. He is a very busy man!
Drawing room. 9.55pm
As soon as we entered this room Lee picked up on a Leslie Ann, the temperature was steadily going colder it started off at 18.8c
down to 18.0c then up to 19.0c
Lee felt that Leslie Ann was a maid, in her 60’s grey curly hair, wearing a blue stripped dress with a white pinny over it.
Energy is felt; it is the mother of the children. Kim suddenly hears the song All things bright and beautiful. Being sung...
As soon as we left this room Kim heard someone laughing and saying “You’re gone now”
No more spirits wished to communicate so we left.
Dining Room
Lee picks up on a spirit man by the name of Richard, he is reluctant to come forward. Lee feels he may have followed us from the
drawing room, he also picks up that this spirit is angry and liked to drink. Firthhand is the surname attached to this man. He is
making lee pace up and down the room. He has nothing to do with the house, he is here for the hunt, and telling Lee he wants us
out. The temperature is going from 19.2c down to 18.6 Lee is feeling the air around him going cold and the temperature readings
are 21.3c to 18.0 then 23.4 to 18.2…crazy! After this fluctuation the thermometer turns itself off, batteries are fine, after leaving
this room the thermometer starts to work again.
This mans life was taken from him, his drink was poisoned with rat poison and he is very angry, he says Gilbert done it because
he was poaching on neighbouring land, he wanted payment to keep quiet but he was killed.
He was only 28-29 years of age; he wants justice for what happened.
He tells Lee that he did follow them from the other room.
Notes from Peter’s Team
Main bedroom 8.15pm
Jeannette can sense a lady named Elizabeth, lady of the house in 1800’s. she is not very tall but stands upright, in the 1940’s she
is seen tending to people … Jeannette feels this could have been some type of hospital (later confirmed it was a place of
convalescence during the war).
There are two children Emily and Sarah in asking for a surname none was forthcoming.
Jeannette is now having backache and feels someone in the room is suffering with this, Jan says her back is a little achy but not
to bad.
Sarah is aged 5-6 and has long dark hair.
Emily is 8 years old and has blond hair.
Hunting horns are being heard outside.
The name of William Higgon is given… Lord of the manor also surnames of Owen then the Christian name John, 1747 which is
before this house.
1845 – 1943 is given and we are told this was significant to this house but nothing else.
1800’s… the Lord of the manor was a bully and very particular. He got a maid into trouble. Jan asks for the maids name..
Jeannette reluctantly says Phoebe, (reluctant because she is certain this is a name remembered from a previous investigation)
The name Mary Edwards is given who was also staff.
Jeannette calls out to spirit but no response.
Jeannette feels spirit children are seen and heard here quite a lot. This is a happy home.
The name of Victor is given and the years of 1958 – 1979
It is felt a lady would have spent a lot of time watching and waiting in this room, she would stare out of the window, and it is felt
that she was waiting for someone to return from war.
Edith Williams an old lady who was connected to this house. And says the rooms are not as they should be, not used as they are
portrayed by the furniture.
Pete’s camcorder just suddenly turns off and the flash on Rod’s camera decides it won’t work both items had been working
perfectly before.
Jeannette is being told “the bed is not original to the house, a four poster bed was here”, a maid is saying “you wont believe the
antics that went on here, when the lady of the house went out the master used to bring the maids in here”
Phoebe is not the maids real name Theresa is given instead, she was young about 17 years of age, very slim build. What started
of as a boastful affair with the master ended in tragedy. Jeannette feels her throat tightening and that this lass was murdered.
Another maid was murdered who was pregnant.
The master paid three maids for their favours. He was a well built man upright and very heavy footed. H e enjoyed hunting, h had
to be ‘top dog’ he was in essence a bully.
He was in cahoots with a man called Thomas (surname) who worked in the stables. There are Scottish and Irish links to people
who lived here.
Rod calls out to spirit to make a noise or show themselves but they have gone quiet.
The name of Nancy Philips is given.
Jane calls out but no response.
Toy Room/nursery 8.45pm
Jeannette is drawn to the rocking horse, but she feels this room was not originally the nursery (later confirmed).
The name of Sarah Jane Williams is given.
A small boy aged about three is on the rocking horse, he passed at the tender age of 31/2 years. It was early Victorian era and he
passed with TB /consumption type symptoms. The rocking horse does not belong to this house; the impression is given of a
much larger wooden rocking horse. The boy tells Jeannette he hasn’t found his daddy and he keeps coming back to look for
him. Jeannette gently helps the boy and returns him to his father’s arms in spirit.
The surname of Phillips is significant to this house; again the name of John Owen is given.
Jeannette feels here right hand is cold, her hands are 27c and 23c respectively. Four different children play an important part in
this house - even before this house was here.
The temperature around the horse is fluctuating; it is felt as cold by two/ three people but in fact it is 20c
There are four children who play here with the toys, they did not pass as children, and this was a happy home.
The Shoe room 8.55pm
At the moment this room has a display of shoes through the years in it. We felt no spirit activity in here at all and after a little
while we all agreed to leave.
It was felt that this room was probably a bedroom.
Office 9.00pm
Jeannette is really cold in here; she is upset and senses punishments. She wants to sob and sob. Her back is feeling icy cold and
she has goose bumps, a young woman is nearby possibly a nanny. The temperature of the room is 20c, Jeannette’s back is 25.5
c her front 28.5c
Nancy Phillips comes in again, she is crying, she is not grounded but replays a situation over and over again. She gets annoyed
and will move things around in the office. Jeannette’s hands are being made to cross over and off being bound, this maid was
raped by the master, who used threats of hurting the children if she did not comply,
There is a feeling of three cots being in the room.
Tea Break
Vic kindly takes up to the attic where he asks Jeannette to do psychometry on an object (Jeannette’s worst subject!)
Jeannette picks up hunting, a war, the surname Williams and also Higgon. A captain and being shown an old fashioned thick
barrelled shot gun.
The item is shown to Jeannette they are initials of EH, Vic says it could possibly have belonged to Emily/Elizabeth/Edith Higgon or
Elizabeth Harries, the feeling is strong on an Elizabeth.
Kitchen 10.10pm
Does not feel active in this room, other than Jeannette feels the settle came from a grand house and is not original to Scolton,
and some orbs caught on camera it was felt although spirit where watching they had gone shy!
Drawing room 10.20pm
Temperature is 17c
Jeannette calls out to spirit, there is a woman standing behind her, she can see her outline in the mirror. Jan sees a black orb
shoot the mirror.
In the adjoining library which again is in the wrong place, a man is sensed; he committed suicide by hanging because of the loss
of his son.
There is very little information just the feeling we are being watched …
The two teams join up in the drawing room. Kerry’s camera has turned itself off, this happens 5 times but there is still ½ a battery
charge left.
Rods camera also dies and again battery charge is ½ full.
Lee and Jeannette try scrying but although twice a man comes into view on their faces he disappears quickly and it is decided to
do a séance instead.
Jeannette, Lee, Kerry, Kim, Rod and Jane sit in the séance circle the others are busy with cameras, camcorders and writing
pads.
Lee gives out protection and helps everyone open to spirit, Jeannette is feeling cold on her back and hands and senses a woman
standing behind her, that’s the last she remembers as the little girl Emily channels through Jeannette….
Emily is not happy as she has not been allowed out to play as she was naughty – she pushed her sister down the stairs.
Emily likes us being there she thinks Lee is funny, from the way she is clasping his hand she obviously has taken a shine to him...
Her mummy was cross with her, her daddy is away again. She is Uncle Tony’s girl!
She likes to skip outside. She asks Lee his name and then says it is a silly name and laughs.
Sarah (her sister) is shy and wont talk to us, Helen asks Emily to ask Sarah to rock on the rocking horse.
Emily seems to ignore this and announces she is a big girl is 8 years old and her birthday is in July. Lee asks her what she wants
for her birthday, Emily wants a brown horse, she doesn’t know what to call it so asks Kim, who tells her to call it nutmeg.
Her mum and Phillip are in the room, Phillip is not nice, and he works here. Lee asks who the King or Queen is, Emily says the
Queen is funny and ugly, the King is dead just the Queen… Victoria and Albert.
Emily is not allowed pets.
Lee asks Emily to call Sarah down and she should say sorry … Emily says she can’t as she is not sorry for pushing her sister as
Sarah had pulled her pigtails.
She snuggles up to Lee and rests her head on his shoulder and falls asleep. Jeannette jolts upright and tells Pete off for moving
around!! (Jeannette never remembers what happens whilst she is channelling)
Emily did lie on her back and stare at the ‘nice’ ceiling and then proceeded to do some cycling!!!!
We have to say Jeannette became a typical 8 year old girl; she had a strop over something someone said, and talked in a soft
girly voice.
It was hilarious watching this happen. Just wait till she sees the video!!!!
We come out of the room at 11.15pm and Kerry’s camera comes back on, Rods comes on once it is home!
We have a quick break and then head for the cellar.
Cellar 11.30pm
We decide to continue with a séance down here, Lee calls out for spirit, not a lot of response is heard, we do hear a slight
tapping noise, and several of us can hear a soft conversation at the top of the stairs… no one is up there.
There are a lot of orbs on camera in the cellar but no communication, Lee thanks spirit and we close the circle down.
Finish investigation 12.00
Thank you for allowing us to investigate this wonderful building.
If you can, go and visit Scolton Manor it is a good day out.

On first glance this looks a cool paranormal picture... Unfortunatel y it is a double exposure.
