THE RHYDDINGS RETURN!

WE ARE THE FIRST PARANORMAL GROUP TO INVESTIGATE HERE.
Return to the Rhydding's 10.11.06

Once again we return to the Rhydding's a former Manor house in Swansea. We are warmly welcomed by Tony and
Angie the owners of this lovely place, and once the rather large group of investigators have assembled we go
upstairs to start the investigation. Angie asks us to investigate three places in particular.

We divide into two groups and the investigation starts at 11pm.

Notes from Lee’s Team

Upstairs bedroom/lounge

Lee picks up on a spirit lady aged 54 her passing was in 1976; Lee feels her passing was caused by lung cancer. He is shown
the condition and his own lungs hurt. Her hair is in a beehive style reminiscent of the 1950’s/60’s, her name is Elizabeth
Dorchester, she is slim about 5’9. She is in visitation. Her
Brother-in-law  Sid is linked with the property. She has fond memories of staying here with her husband.
She is not aware of any other spirits.
Lee now has a spirit child, afro-Caribbean, aged about 8/9 wearing blue woolly jumper and jeans. He does
Not belong here, seems to have tagged along with someone else. He was born in this country, and it is felt he passed in a fire
in 1987. Seema gets very emotional and wants to cry.
Elizabeth is standing watching us and is curious to what we are doing. She says she knew we were coming tonight. Lee says
the boy is very nervous and shy and that it is the first time he has come through, his name begins with the letter J. He is
aware of the lady in spirit but not afraid of her.
It is felt to get very cold by Helen, Lee and some of the others in the group, temp; goes from 19c – 16c Chris feels that his
hands and face have gone very light and are feeling hot but the temp; has settled around him at 18c.

11.30pm Store room.

The temp; is 14.6c
Lee hears tapping in the corner behind him. He sense that footsteps have been heard from this room and also a black and
grey cat. Nothing else is sensed here and as we leave the temp; goes up to 17c

11.40pm the Turret

Lee sense s a man who was hung in this building, not in this room, he was hung because he threw someone out of a window,
he has a scar on his cheek, a big man about 6’2, not very nice. He threw the man out of the window because he owed him
money, something to do with smuggling. The temp; goes from 16c – 22c There are a mixture of feelings amongst the team,
some are cold, others are hot, some have headaches, Tasha is feeling sick and Jenna’s neck is hurting.

Tea Break

1.00am Cellar

Lee picks up on a black horse pulling a glass panelled hearse, he feels this area was at one time something to do with an
undertakers.  On a previous visit by one of the other mediums they had commented to the landlady that the area by the
toilets and beyond had felt as if the place had been funeral directors, so it is uncanny that Lee who had no prior knowledge of
this picked up on the same thing. Lee also sees a spirit of a ‘down and out’ wearing a brown duffle type coat curled up in the
corner; he passed with a heart condition.  He is not an active spirit. The spirit of a lady steps forward name of Susannah
Humphries aged 37, she is seen as a classic white lady ghost, and she floats just above the ground and wearing a long white
dress. She passed with a blow to the head from the butt of a gun. Chris feels a touch to his hair as if someone was tapping his
head. This ladies husband thought she was having an affair with his brother this was an unfounded accusation but in a fit of
anger he struck her with the butt of the gun and killed her, Lee is shown a cannonball being tied round her waist and she is
then dumped into a large lake, Lee feels she lived close to here, a hump backed bridge is significant.  Her husband is shown
writing with a quill and counting and weighing money. The year 1871 is given her husbands name Master Peter. The name of
their house has Scottish links and Argyle house is given, the house would have been passed down over the generations.
Lee is asked if he can see anything by one of the barrels, he says the little boy from upstairs has followed them down. Tash
and Jenna can see a man in along black coat sitting on a barrel and the right side of Jenna’s face goes numb. Helen feels
sick and not comfortable by the delivery door’s, lee feels unsteady and has goose-bumps. He is touched on the head and
shown a pistol. Apprehension is felt and pins and needles are felt by Lee, a man’s voice is heard by Helen and Lee but unable
to make out what was said. Aggression is building up in the cellar.  Both Helen and Tash want to be sick, Chris sees a white
shape on the ceiling. Jenna has a feeling of hands being placed round her throat when lee is calling out; she is scared and has
to leave immediately.  Chris is seeing a small boy in jeans and jumper standing by the table with his hands clasped.  A pile of
trays suddenly falls to the floor scattering quite a way. Some of the trays are heavy. No one was near the trays at the time
and they fell whilst Chris was talking about the little boy.
Lee asks for another sign and the delivery doors rattle.

2.10am
The teams are re- split at this time as it is felt a good idea if Jeannette goes to the cellar to see if she can detect any spirits
down there.

So most go with Angela and Helen to investigate the toilet area, corridor and lounge.

Helen picks up on an elderly man in his mid 70’s name of Albert; he suffered from emphysema a condition bought on by
working in the mines.  As she is talking the temp; in the corridor unexplainably goes from 19c – 29c light anomalies are
caught on camera.
Albert would have been a regular to the pub; cigar smoke is smelt by Sam.
Knocking is heard on the fire exit doors.

A mumble is heard in the ladies toilets, a young girl of 14 by the name of Gwendolyn with long curly mousey brown hair and
wearing a dress with a white apron over,
black shoes and blue ribbons in her hair.
Helen feels she accidentally drowned; she is happy skipping and misses her mum.
Chris has the feeling someone is touching his throat, Tash has a sharp poke in her leg and later small scratch marks are
noticed. Helen feels someone passed with a stroke, a small dark ball is seen in front of Helen, a blue flash is seen in left
hand side of the toilets.
The group rejoin with the others in the cellar.

11pm Peter’s team the Turret

A male child is cowering in the corner, he is scared, his name is Jonathan Davies from the Victorian era around the 1800’s,
he is appx 6-7 years old and although showing himself to Jeannette smartly dressed in what seems to be a sailor jacket/shirt
with plus 4’s and shiny black shoes her guides tell her this is how he wished he could have been, he would have worked here
in the old mansion. Something pushes Jeannette’s leg, Jan’s right leg is freezing cold and Jess is cold on her legs as well.
A vase or glass is heard by Jeannette and Helen smashing in another room, but no one is around and there is no broken
object and the room is empty.  A spirit gentleman barges in name of Edward, he would have beaten young Jonathan and
although a small man he held a lot of fear in the village. Someone blows in Jeannette’s ear, when we call out scratching
noises are clearly heard by all. Tapping is also heard.
Kerry and Liam hear a noise like small pebbles being thrown.

11.30pm Beamed room

Jeannette mentions the fact that a man was hung in here he tells her he was murdered as he was convicted of a crime he did
not do. He is seen as a black silhouette and seen ‘swinging’ more to the left side of the window … confirmed
The name of Matthews is given but not sure if first or surname. As this is mentioned the temp; goes from 15c to 12c Angie
feels very cold and confirms she does see him hanging there. Jeannette has a blinding headache. A man killed with a blow to
the head, someone who works in the pub rubs her hands together a lot, confirmed, Annie the ‘hung mans’ woman used to do
this a lot, Katie looks like his woman, Jeannette who has no idea who Katie is then describes her, she walks very upright,
small, slim, very open, blonde shoulder length hair. All confirmed by Angie. Jeannette is told she has the same
characteristics as this mans woman Annie,  He tells her that his woman has a slight bump as she was pregnant when he died
and he wants to know if Katie is also !!!   Well Katie if you’re reading this perhaps you can let Angie know!!
Jeannette’s back is really cold it was 17.3c is now 14.5c
Again someone blows in Jeannette’s ear.
Matthews was murdered here, an image of all the villagers gathered outside is shown to Jeannette, the reason he shows
himself hanging is because he can see the true murdered over in the kitchen, for whatever reason he is unable to go over
there and confront him. But it is from that side of the building that Angie has seen the man swinging. He is grounded and
very angry he wants retribution; he is unable to move on.
He says to “tell James it was not me” Angie confirms that someone called James had been staying there.

Jeannette tells Angie that she has had earrings and jewellery goes missing Angie confirms this, a young woman called
Margaret Ann Wiseman has just stepped in from spirit; she borrowed the earrings because she thinks they’re pretty, she
loves Angie's clothes nice colours but likes the jewellery most. Margaret was one of the villagers and loved the building; the
dog sees her sometimes she will just stop AND stare at nothing,
Margaret roams around the building, she has one leg shorter than the other by about 2 inches, Margaret thinks the dog is
funny and shows her (dog) walking into a room and just suddenly stopping, Margaret also turns the TV on and off and
changes channels, Angie confirms all this.
Margaret says she teases the cat also.
Someone has heard her giggling, and she says she also tugs the bedclothes, Angie confirms that Kylie has had the bedclothes
tugged. Margaret then tells us she is off to see what Lee is doing and goes. She comes in visitation.

11.50pm  Bedroom/lounge

Although light anomalies are caught on camera no information is received other than Jeannette is told that the boy has
followed Lee.

Next Bedroom 11.55pm

Helen calls out and Jeannette is told to “get out, get out” by a very strong accented Welsh man.
Nothing else is forthcoming.

Tea Break.

12.45 am Angie’s bedroom.

A male, tall about 6’7 is here, Jeannette says Angie would feel very uncomfortable about dressing and undressing in this
room as a feeling of being watched and someone wanting to jump on her ,this is confirmed.
Jeannette tells the spirit that he can not hurt or harm Angie or anyone else for that matter, he has to realise he is spirit and
no longer a physical. Jeannette feels she may have been a bit strong in her words and apologises to him if she was
disrespectful, and that our intention is to find out why he is ‘haunting’ this place. He is not very co-operative but leaks out
some information.  He watches Angie mainly when she is on her own or just the animals are with her …. Confirmed
This man would have what we now call date rape, he would ply the women with drink and drugs taken them back to this
room and ‘had his way’.  He would have served in the army, a love of motor bikes, and a year of 1947 is given. Peter Philips
is the name given and Sharon says it is a name she has had on her mind for the last 10 minutes or so, and felt that he was
either a Colonel or Corporal. Some how there is a connection to do with Angie’s husband Tony but we don’t know what the
connection is. He walks through the wall and the bed and Jeannette shows Angie the direction he goes she confirms that it is
the place where she senses him and the animals stand and stare. He stands and has been seen in the bay window as Angie
has mirrored wardrobes he can stand in that spot and see what goes on in the whole room.  Jeannette says he also makes the
TV go into ‘white’ noise, again confirmed by Angie.
This is the same room he would have bought his women, he didn’t pick up prostitutes as they were diseased he paid for a
more classy woman, ones who went to shows and dance groups that sort of thing. Jess is feeling sick and has to leave the
room, Jeannette says he has done this to Angie and she confirms she has had the same happen.
Debbie and Kerry are sitting/reclining on the bed and Jeannette sees the spirit walk round the bed eyeing them up, he leans
towards Debbie, who is now also feeling sick, then lays down behind her, Jeannette has not said where the man is but Debbie
is getting very cold, Jeanette now tells her where the man is.
Jeannette calls out to this man. The bed is getting cold and as Jeannette watches this spirit move round light anomalies are
caught on camcorder and digital stills.  Jeannette tells Angie how to deal with him and to give her a call if he starts to cause
trouble.
The name of Robert is also given in this room, and Jeannette wonders if there are two spirit men in there but time is getting
on and it is decided that the team will return to try and sort this mystery out at a later date.

We have a very quick break and divide into a small group and one slightly larger one, the small one going to the cellar the
other to corridor, toilets and lounge.

2am Cellar

Lee is having terrible shivers, he really is not happy at all. Jeannette is elbowed in her back. Lee is terrified he says it is the
worst location he has ever been. Jeannette is a bit apprehensive but otherwise no problems. Jan and Kerry hear a man’s
cough as if clearing the throat.  Lee says it is a male spirit and he is holding a pistol.  Debbie can hear someone choking; Lee
is certain it is the ‘hanging’ man from upstairs.  We can see someone walking back and forth across the door, lee is touched
by spirit. The Dictaphone picks up a heavy sigh.
The male entity is masking himself and most point to it being the man from upstairs. The temperature drops rapidly. Jenna
and Helen hear a man’s voice telling us to leave. Lee Jeannette, Jan, Kerry hear a woman’s scream.
Jeannette silently communicates to the spirit he is the man from upstairs and as he slowly walks towards her someone opens
the cellar door forgetting we are there, amidst the groans they quickly slip in and are directed to the back of the cellar,
Jeannette feels the man walk through her and go to the back, before she can say anything everyone is moaning about aching
backs and being touched. The man comes back and peers into Jeannette’s face, he has very dark piercing eyes, and facial
hair, his eyes are quite hooded, the people at the back of the cellar are too uncomfortable and getting restless and Jeannette
loses the connection. She tells him we will come back with less people and he can talk then.

     The evening is closed down.

We will be returning to The Rhydding's next year in a small group to try and finalise exactly who it is that
RESIDES THERE.

Grateful thanks to our wonderful hosts Tony and Angie.
